            1) Asparagus - this failed miserably, it’s still alive but not doing well, possibly frost damaged.
            2) Globe Artichoke - these have done well, harvested a dozen or so artichokes. I have also saved some seed so will attempt growing more to expand my artichoke patch.
            3) Onions - 3 kinds - it was not a good year for onions. All were very tiny, just too hot and dry for them.
            4) Garlic - better than last years total fail but not very inspiring, I managed to harvest about as much as I had planted.
            5) Broad beans - these did well and I have saved seed for autumn planting.
            6) Peas - the sparrows ate the plants. I have harvested a tiny handful of pods only.
            7) Runner beans and French beans - mixed success here, the dwarf french beans were destroyed by slug attack but the Scarlet emperor runner beans are doing well and cropping every few days.
            8) Oca - so far, so good. Plants are still alive and planted out on the allotment.
            9) Chard - first lot of seedlings got eaten by slugs/birds. Planted more seeds yesterday.
            10) Bulb Fennel - this did better than previous attempts and achieved some rather spindly bulbs of fennel that we were able to harvest. Family is now rather sick of fennel.
            11) Maize and sweetcorn - plants are rather stunted this year. I might direct sow next time.
            12) Winter squash - total fail.
            13) Cucumbers - total fail
            14) Tomatoes - mixed success, the ones in the pots outdoors are far healthier than those in the greenhouse. All are producing fruit though.
            15) Kale - it’s not liking the heat but is soldiering on. I expect some better leafage into autumn.
            16) Cabbage - murdered by slugs.
            17) Cauliflower - reduced to sticks by snails.
            18) Purple sprouting broccoli - fail
            19) Celeriac - fail
            20) Beetroot - got swamped by weeds by have now rescued them. Planted some more seeds and remain hopeful that they might grow.

Parsnip, carrot and leek seedlings are planted out on the plot and growing.
this years biggest success so far has to be the 16kg of potatoes.
