Those planting beetroot and radishes, is that outside with protection (cloches etc), or just outside? I have beetroot (boltardy) and radish (cherry belle) seeds and I'm wondering when to plant them. I also have Hamburg parsley, not sure about that one either.

I sowed some beetroot yesterday in small pots or modules as, if I plant direct these days, plants that survive are few and far between. I sow 2 seeds to a pot, I've sowed 40 so might end up with 80 small clumps (2 or 3 to a clump) to plant out about 3" apart, so a double 10' row. I would expect to get quite a lot of beetroot from that over a few months.

So do you find that you get decent germination for beetroot in a gh at this time of year? I started some in the gh at the weekend but I'd it would help to get them germinated I could bring the tray inside.

            Sown over the past 2 days ;

            Tray.
            3x Tomato alicante

            3x Peppers Californian wonder
            3x Cucumber marketmore
            3x Tomato cherry cascade

Annoyingly the wilko cell trays dont fit in the propagator and the lid is loose.
So cut some toilet rolls up and did as below on the nest set.

            Toilet Rolls
            3x Kale cottagers
3x kale (cant remember variety - Tand M packet)
            3x Sweetcorn earlibird
3x Cucumber (cant remember variety- Tand M packet)
3x French Climbing Bean Blue Lake
3x Broccoli 'Ironman' F1 Hybrid (Calabrese)
            3x Broccoli Cardinal

the little things on the left are strawberrys, but they have been that small for weeks now, are they dead/ stagnant? they was planted same time as all the above and you can see how much the others have come one.

I use the table in this post https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ion_93787.html for a guide on best sowing temperature (I've printed it and stuck it inside my seed cupboard door!).

97% of Beets and Radish seeds germinate at 77F. Lower temperatures give lower germination rates and take longer.
