I think its 45 different varieties - one plant of each (hoping they all survive). All the bush varieties will go outside. The rest will go in the greenhouses, the polytunnel has been given over to French Beans, lettuces and Cucumber this year.

At the moment I have got lots and lots because my family and friends have put in their orders, but only a few varieties. Sungold (my husband's favourite), Crimson Crush (my favoutite), Gardeners Delight (can't remember why), Roma (I was given them) and Crimson Blush (because they are supposed to be a bigger version of Crimson Crush). The only others I would have would be if Aldi get the mini plum ones in that they had last year. Hopefully I will end up with about 20 plants to eat fresh, slow roast and freeze and make into chutney....and give away of course.

Radio - these were in the VSP years ago, from Zazen. I've no idea whether they're vine or bush or anything about them. There are some still in the VSP - in the Red section. So that's a start!!

Last year we had 12 plants but found we didn't have enough plum tomatoes so this year we are trying:

              8 x Roma
              4 x Alicante
              2 x Gardener's Delight
2 x Sugar Plum (really nice on sandwiches)
Plus I also have the Tiny Tims that I have been growing indoors since January after reading the early tomatoes thread on here, and have started off some more Tiny Tims to grow in pots on the patio.
Let's see if we have enough this year!

I asploded* an old Sugardrop cherry tomato from my tesco shop a month back into a pot of compost, and now there is a whole bunch of seedlings in a pot. I have no clue if I'm going to actually do anything with it, as it looks like I should've started seedlings earlier in the year (all the youtubers/ instagram farmers have really big tomato plants by now), or whether Sugardrop is even suitable for growing in the UK climate (without a lot of babying), or whether I can be bothered to set up some kind of trellis thing. TOO MANY THINGS TO LEARN THIS YEAR!

*Asploded [verb] : the act of making something explode. In this case, squishing a tomato until it pops. Very therapeutic.

If you've never grown tomatoes befor you may be better off trying with some decent seed.
Supermarket toms are often F1...so the seed you grow may be nothing like the tomatoes you tasted. They could be weak spindly plants, not a huge yield etc etc
If you are going to give it a go it may be worth you buying in one or two plants to grow along side your sugardrops.
