Perhaps you should be more concerned about finding out whats eating them ?.
Where are your plants growing .?
Are they sown in new modules or Reused after washing and sterilizing.?
Is the compost new or recycled etc .?
If it is Dogs vomit , google it. Seems harmless to both Humans and plants.
    Gp
There is definitely something eating the leaves, i initially thought a slug but there is no trails.
So I'm thinking maybe weavil or wood lice type thing.
Got to be open and honest, I never wash out old tubs and frequently reuse compost from previous years, sterility is not something i consider, maybe i should. I've always like the idea of diverse microorganisms in the compost.
I've googled dog vomit fungus, it does look like it, but couldn't be sure. If it is dog vomit fungus, the info outlayed is harmless

I use wood chips for mulching my beds. They often grow mounds. I'm not sure I would use them near seedlings.
This is an American site - but I'm sure there are others :

Wow. I'm not easily freaked, but that is, indeed, freaky.

VC, warn a body before you post emoticons that grow legs... I can't unsee that. *shudder* ;-)

Don't know what it is, but I think I'd burn it with fire

Wouldn't want to eat anything coming off those plants anyway. Plenty of time to start some fresh plant's
