What variety of marigold

Nothing will kill ground elder I've tried everything. I have a mat of white roots under my whole garden. It's a never ending battle.

I will try it though - just Incase!!

Suttons sell it as peruvian black mint. It does smell sort of like mint. We use the leaves much as you would mint, chuck it in with some new potatoes and butter, yum yum.
Apparently it can also be used instead of coriander in curry recipes. I've not tried that, it's not at all like coriander.

Years ago I tried the African marigolds,they were taller & strong growth,wide spread but I think there’s more pest help from French marigolds. You know how snails come from the outside edge of beds,it’s good to have some French marigolds planted before the fruit or veg,so when they come out at night they come to the marigolds first,when you notice which ones are being eaten,go back to that plant when it’s dark & you’ll find them all being greedy amongst the marigolds,they’re their favourites. The natural pesticide in French marigolds roots,stop whitefly wanting to nest next to tomatoes etc.

The first year with my GH I grew some un-named variety of marigolds I'd had given me, they ended up taller than my toms. I've never grown them since I stick to having basil amongst my toms instead.

There was a reference posted last year saying that Mexican marigolds were good for controlling couch grass, whither it works or not I couldn't say, as I dont intend bringing any couch grass in to my garden
