    February in the tunnel:

The Spring greens are coming on, the ones in the middle are recovering from a rogue pigeon attack. Spring onions coming along slowly. On the shelf are some onion sets and some spinach seedlings.

There are some broad beans at the back behind the pile of carp. Spinach sown under fleece this morning. Parsley still going.

Not a lot of change in the growhouse, fruit cage or carrot cage, but here are some other pictures.

        The downstairs grow light garden:

lettuces, early peas, microgreens (choy sum and cress) and a pot of cabbage seedlings hidden by one of the lettuces.

        The upstairs grow lights:

More lettuces, tomatoes (Balconi red and yellow, Shirley) and peppers (Snackbite red, orange and yellow). The 2 small Shirley plants that were in here last month are now on the sitting room windowsill:

They each have 1 flower open and have already provided a sideshoot each. On the right is one of last year's tomatoes that produced a straggly sideshoot over winter. If you look carefully, there are 2 small green tomatoes .

Meanwhile the pot of carrots sown in January got too tall for the growlights and some of its leaves got scorched. It is now on the kitchen windowsill, the carrots are looking rather floppy but growing well:

This is my little blowaway greenhouse in the fence corner of the front garden. It is nearly impossible to photograph due to all of the plants on the path!

Early peas in the rootrainers and more (not yet germinated) in the trough below. Also below, just out of picture, are some yellow beetroot which I have transplanted into a bucket after taking this photo, and a pot of silene seedlings (not edible) which will go on the fence. It gets very hot in here when the sun is out, especially on the top shelf.

Just planted Rondo, rainbow mixed and chantaney carrots along with a white beetroot in the mini tunnel raised bed. Just enough room for the red beets and a few parsnips and that will be full.

                    April

Not much to write home about this month. The soft fruit trees have settled in to say they were moved at the wrong time:

I have a new plan for the small greenhouse this year. Framework is in place to grow 3 Tom plants with 2 cordons on each plant growing up diagonal canes. So in effect 6 branches from 3 plants. The red is just to highlight the canes:

Rapidly getting swamped in the grow light gardens...

                      Downstairs:

Lettuces and other salad greens, the odd cabbage, kohlrabi and beetroot, and some trailing fuchsias that will go on the front fence. Now I just have to find room for 10 pots of peas that are germinating this morning

                      Upstairs:

Tomatoes, peppers and french beans, plus the first cucumber which germinated this morning. The pot under cover on the floor is a pepper seed which is proving extremely slow to germinate, but I haven't quite given up yet.

                      Sitting room windowsill:

The full compliment of Shirley tomatoes are now in position. This year I have reinforced the canes with cross ties and a horizontal cane in an attempt to stop them from leaning too far. The 2 big plants (sown in January) have green tomatoes almost the size of golf balls on the bottom truss.

Fruit cage (still minus its net as the fruit needs pollinating).

Carrots under the net are starting to germinate.

Strawberries are starting to form flower buds. Potatoes in the square pots and beetroot and calendula seedlings on the shelf will soon be joined by some of the contents of the downstairs grow light garden (see above).

I like the idea of doing 2 stems, bet you actually have room to do 3 stems, one straight up the middle, think I may try that next year with grafted plants

I trialled it with 4 stems last year & managed to get a decent crop.
