New Greenhouse Purchase

Hi Folks, I've been stalking your forum for a while, but now about to take the plunge and purchase my first greenhouse (well first in 20+ years anyway) so thought I'd emerge from the shrubbery.

Has anyone dealt with Greenhousestores before? Any comments on their growmaster greenhouses? I am tempted by a 6x8, more so because of the way they secure the polycarbonate (too many footballs around to contemplate glass) and hope that will make it a little more wind proof than other PC greenhouses� oh and the price is more suitable for me than most alternatives I've found!

Anyway, thanks for any advice, and thanks for all the advice already gleaned from these pages. I hope I can start adding to the bank of knowledge soon!

Hello and welcome to the vine Angus. I can't answer your question I'm afraid but with fingers crossed some other grape with a little info may be along soon. Are you growing in your garden?

Thank you :-) We are starting to grow! We spent most of summer getting garden into shape, moving patios, re-landscaping a bit. As far as growing our own, we had some soft fruit in place - the raspberries were great - and some veg. But my love was always propagation through cuttings and collecting seeds etc and growing crops that were a wee bit more exotic than you can grow outside in the NE of Scotland. Nothing too out there - just tomatoes, melons, chillis�.. So a greenhouse of some form is a must!

Hello Angus and a warm welcome from me too.
I have no knowledge of the GH that you mention - sorry. Nearly all of my GHs have been Freebies from Freecycle and friends - and are glazed.
I'd be lost without a GH, it extends the seasons and gives me somewhere to shelter from the rain!

Ok dokie folks! Drew a blank on grow master. I contacted greenhouse stores and wasn't very impressed with their response to my questions... So back to the confusing world of online greenhouse shopping!

I notice a few here have mentioned Gardman, it's on the list, but also summer garden buildings have their own 6x8's. Anyone any experience with them? They look very similar to gardmans, dunno if they just unbranded versions?

Anyway, see what the community can add to this one!

I can vouch for toughened glass! I have teenage boys who have more footballs, rugby balls etc than I can count! My Rhino greenhouse hasn't lost a pane... Mind you I've had a golf ball through my bedroom window, another golf ball through the landing window, football in the dining room and two hockey balls through the porch

Ooo, that's a pretty good deal.... Might have to call in a few early christmas presents, my budget is tight, that would be stretch but very tempting.

I ordered from them a few years back and had no problems. I have one of their Vitavia branded greenhouses and it was great value for money at the time. Mine does not have toughened glass though - which does not do anything for my nerves (hindsight is a wonderful thing).

Ok, large whisky in hand as just taken the plunge!! Gone via Amazon as the delivery charge is (hopefully) �20 quid less. The scandal of delivery costs up to the "North"!!
