I have exactly the same problem...three of them within 2 metres of rthe garden's boundaries. I've tried hiding, jumping out and hissing, but they jusrt look at me funny. Do those cat scarer electronic devices actually work and at what radius?

12 bore is the best answer?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I have one cat and my neighbour has two and then there's always the odd one appears in the garden from goodness knows where.

The greenhouse is protected with a bit of chicken wire stood up against the open door, I haven't had a cat in my greenhouse since this went up.

The raised beds once planted up and mature will protect itself and until then I put garden canes in a criss cross pattern and this doesn't leaved the little darlings anywhere to scrap at the earth, so no more cat loo in the garden.

Hope someone else finds this helpful. I love my cat(Jasmine) and the one's next door (Jack and Jill) but I love my garden too.

So if you've covered up all your beds with criss cross canes, where does 'your' cat do it's business?

There's a border plant which i'm sure is called Catnip!. It stinick when brushed and the scent stays on you. Cats are ment to hate it. It grows up to 5/6Inch and is avaliable from most garden centres.
            Hope this helps

Catnip isn't always successful either. I had a cat who used to sleep in the middle of it. As for a cat deterrent, we were having problems on the lottie with rabbits and cats. Then, over a period of about a week, 4 dead cats and about 30 dead rabbits were found, mostly at the bottom of my plot, some partly eaten. probably by a fox.
Then we heard that there was a guy locally breeding MINK. Guess what, one has escaped!!! I understand Ferrets are almost as good

If it ain't broke, don't fix it and if you ain't going to eat it, don't kill it

I thought cats loved catnip - the plant is probably coleus canina (or scaredy cat). It doesn't really work though, and don't touch it or your hands will stink!

My cat loves catnip and is very attracted TO it rather than away! I use the criss crossed canes solution as well, have given up with trying to deter them with various 'nasty' smells, the best answer seems to be to not give them any room to scratch in the earth. And guess what, it works! The edges of the canes point over the edges of my slightly raised beds like a barricade and then cover all points which might look inviting as a cat loo!

I had used a spray called cat off, sprayed it on the paths and on the fence where they were getting in, seems to have worked for a couple of months but with all this rain I need to apply it again. But I think I've held off what with all the wind, don't want to spray upwards and have it come back down on me and the veg!

I have one of the old fire guards that used to open out around the fire with hinges on. I stand this against the opening in the door and they never get in although the first day or two they did try to jump over it but it was just two high.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Roar or otherwise known as lion dung this works very well apparently or you could try ferret dung cheaper (free) if you know anyone who keeps ferrets, I have tried the later of the two and can confirm this works well. or alledged mirrors work well as cat seem not to like themselves either. battery operated IR water sprinkler seem to be on sale for such task, debris netting used around scaffolding which you can pick up free of charge when the scaffolders take it down they normally bin it, can be hung above door and weighted at the bottom will stop the cats entering greenhouse. good luck

Small bottle caps filled with neat full strength amonia placed where the cats come through.
