Botrytis effect on soil?

Some of my tomatoes have botrytis and I've spent the day clearing them out of the greenhouse. They are in pots so I've moved them outside.
Can I reuse the compost or will the mould spores affect the next crop?
What's the best way of cleaning the greenhouse?

I've had the same for a second year running, I'm going to light a Sulpher candle this winter, in the hope of killing all the spores.

The compost should be ok outside, I've chucked it on the beds - but I wouldn't use it inside again.

Botrytis Cinerea/Grey Mould.

Is an airborne disease which is around most of the time we just give it the conditions it needs to thrive.

It usually over winters as sclerotia in dead organic tissue ready for the next period of warm humid weather. Thats why you destroy all infected plant tissue (I have know idea whether composting would kill it).

As far as I know it does not remain in the soil itself but I suppose it could be in the root system which of course is organic.

Thank you Potty I'm going to destroy the plants (council waste) Its just the compost that they were in that I'd like to reuse, preferably in pots, rather than outdoors.

I don't really have a compost heap, I just pile stuff up in odd corners. Maybe its time to start one

I know it's tempting tore-use the compost but what you save may well just cause you loss of crops by cross infection. I'd just be for spreading it on the borders in the garden
