No more blowaways?

Thanks Sarz for restoring my Faith in Norfolk and giving me the courage to buy. It's only a Spacesaver and I was a bit scared by the reviews (needing a degree in meccano etc.) but I have a man who "does" and he's almost done it. He's assured me that once he's fixed it to the wall it's not going anywhere. It looks about the size of 2 blowaways, but much neater and has a sliding door. I'm really made up and excited at the prospect of filling it. Sad innit?

Looking at the spacesaver as well. Wondering if anyone knows if the ceiling panel is the right size to be replaced by an autovent by any chance?

The difference is that 'Ultimate' ones have polycarb panels which blow out, fall out, and are generally not very stable (although fixing the panels in with silicone does make a difference).

I think that's Norfolk bashing!

I have a 6'x6' Ultimate. It's 4-5 years old. No panels have ever come out, and I can't actually see how they would. They are not fixed in with silicone, just as per the (lousy) instructions. The back window is useless - mine is propped up with a stick. Properly erected and anchored, my experience shows them to be pretty good considering the price. It is showing some signs of wear, but I expect it to be good for at least another 3 years. Maybe I just got lucky.

Are you bitter? You seem to pap on First Tunnels/mentions of them quite often in your posts (or is it jealousy? )

You know, F.F, if i were your i would look on freecycle, or your local news agents window for a propper greenhouse and pay some 'Handy Bloke' a 100 quid to errect it for you. My new (20 year old) all metal and glass one came for a house a few doors away that was going to be skipped. It was a bit of a bodge job rebuilding it, but for for nowt, who cares.
Now i dont have 4 months of all the windowsill covered in growing veg seedlings.

You know, F.F, if i were your i would look on freecycle, or your local news agents window for a propper greenhouse and pay some 'Handy Bloke' a 100 quid to errect it for you. My new (20 year old) all metal and glass one came for a house a few doors away that was going to be skipped. It was a bit of a bodge job rebuilding it, but for for nowt, who cares.

Roger it would cost me an arm and a leg to have a level space dug out on my sloping garden. The only place it could go is on the side of my house where I couldn't see it and it would be a sitting target for glass breakers (we have them in abundance around here). As I'm not planning on moving house, ever, I'll make do with the Spacesaver and, the way things are looking, I may be buying another blowaway!!!

Sorry to be boring, but I'm chuffed to little mint balls. It's up and looks really great, just waiting for the shelves now. The man who does has said if I fill it up quickly and need more space, he'll fasten a stayput blowaway to the wall next to it.

I'm not on anyone's payroll. I do this 'job' 7 days a week out of the good of my heart. And I talk about what I know, the same as everyone else on here.

I have 2 Norfolk Standard greenhouses which I love to bits, and am happy to recommend them to anyone on a budget - my 6x12 cost less than half what a polytunnel of the same size would. I don't recommend their Ultimate range because I've seen one of them 3 plots away from where it started, and another one scrapped, due to the panels popping out. Similarly, I've seen FT's tunnels up close on several plots on my site, and I've seen their construction team putting them up.

Unlike yourself, I have no agenda, or axe to grind.
