buying a greenhouse

I am in the process of buying a greenhouse-cant decide between the clear polycarbonate or the twin wall-I live in France and we do get quite strong winds blowing up from the south, so although the greenhouse will be protected by about 1 metre with a bamboo/plant type fence bust wondered if it would be better to go for the twin-wall. any information would be gratefully received.

Twin wall tends to cut down the light. This may not be a problem in France. In fact it may help with shading. Both are very lightweight, however. The wind may be a problem

thanks for that, the main problem in my decision is that there are a lot on offer to buy online but to actually see one is another matter! by the way i see you are from Lowestoft - I was born there - well actually Oulton Broad-but we moved to Surrey when I was 13, lovely place though but havent been back since 1998 when my aunt died-I do have a couple of cousins living still in the area, best wishes, Val

Hi priscadog, I use a twin wall poly carb greenhouse, it's fine, the twin wall does help with shading but I don't have any issues with plant growth due to lack of light. Yes the panels are (very) light, but using clear silicone sealant around the frame prior to fitting works great. I haven't lost a panel yet and we've had a few gales here over the last few years.

Hi, thanks for that, I think I am going to go for the twin walled greenhouse-we looked at some in a garden centre and the polycarbonate panels -at least some of them-were laying on the ground-we had recently had strong winds, storms etc. but its difficult to decide if in the fact some of them that were falling apart(twin walled greenhouses as well) were in fact due to the person who erected them!
