Advice on polycarbonate greenhouse?

I would like some advice please?

I am having a polycarbonate greenhouse delivered on weds, are there any tips and help you can give me on the construction?

I have read about some people having difficulty with getting panels to stay in so is there anything I can get in advance that would help?

I would be grateful for any tips or any other advice you can give me, this is my first greenhouse

You could try replacing the rubber with glazing tape which is basically a heavy duty double sided tape it quite expensive though for what it is.
You should be ble to get it at your local plastic merchants its also used for sticking plastic trims to windows.

Do you mean an acrylic foam sticky tape? Sorry if I am being stupid but have looked it up and thats all I can find.

I would also grab some extra glazing clips and space them out along the bars as I noticed the polycarb is very flexiable which is one of the reasons I decided against installing in my greenhouse this would stop it flexing in the middle sections

Silicone sealant has been recommended. I had terrible problems with wind (excuse me ) and have since used glazing tape, an extremely strong, 50mm wide clear tape bought from Lidl. they don't have it in now, but it's worth a google.
I also intend to get some bamboo canes long enough to fit diagonally across each pane and silicone adhesive these into the corners of the pane to act as an external brace, before the winter storms come.
The tape has held through rain, heat and strong winds so far. but better safe than chasing polycarb sheets down the street, those things can really fly.

About the greenhouse clips, there seems to be 2 sorts, which ones should I get?

I would have liked glass but did not want to spend too much to start with so thought I would get a cheaper one to see how much use I got out of it.
I have been looking for ages at all sorts from the Rhino to really cheap ones and have gone for a reasonable priced polycarbonate.

Well it arrived, part came on Weds, the rest today!!!!!

The frame has been built, looked like a giant meccano set with all the bits
Think the panels will be the really hard part, but will see tomorrow if the weather keeps fine. Have got glazing tape, extra clips and silicone ready!!

Its made by Gardman, don't know much about them but hope it will be ok.
Can't wait to get my tomatoes in there, they are growing so tall in my cheap plastic one.

I got a Gardman about 6 weeks ago and I got it together in about 2 days. Just follow the instructions as best you can. Do NOT overtighten the alloy bolts as they will sheer off.

Well its up, and looking good, most fiddly bit was putting on the rubber down each side of the frames.

Used the extra 100 clips I bought, so should be secure. The glazing tape has still not arrived yet, but s.i.l. says that can be put in later.

I have got most of my tomato plants in, also peppers. I am going to try and tranplant a couple of my cucumbers and hope they survive.

We got a polycarbonate GH last year and one of the panels split from wind damage during the winter. My OH fixed it with silicone sealant and it seems to have worked very well. Enjoy your Greenhouse!
