How much time do i need to cover a poly tunnel?

Hello all

Does anyone know how much time i will need to leave in order to cover my poly tunnel (14'x20') using a trench system?

Hopefully i'll have enough time this weekend as the wind is set to be low and the day warm. But i'd rather have a rough idea.

Not going to be much help as my tunnel was 90� x 30� onto a base rail but�.

I had five friends- there was virtually no wind at all- but as soon as we got the cover up on to the ridge a gust of wind made the cover into a huuuugggeeeee kite! From starting to pull the cover over to securing the ends took less than an hour I anchored the sides down and rolled it onto the base rail that took another hour � but critically � and my reason for posting; the next day was a great opportunity so spend several hours finalising, stretching and titivating your tunnel - So my advice would be make sure you have the next day free as well.

Good luck with the tunnel. I am waiting for an 8 * 15 one to be delivered myself, so have been reading a lot of the posts on how to build them and a few people have mentioned using clamps to assist in holding the plastic in place while putting it on. If you are using the bury method a lot of soft rocks(i.e. not sharp edges to rip plastic) might come in handy as it will take a while to get the soil moved over/plastic moved under.

took a couple of hours to get the cover on evenly, used the trench method and part filled it as a temporary measure. It was 2 weeks before we could return on a still day and take out the filling, tighten and refill. Sorting the end was the hardest bit, too much plastic meant lots of pleats. Up and working now though, need some serious heat to expand the plastic then we will need to lift the frame for max. tension. .... so I would say, 2 days at least !

if you can get hold of some scaffold tubes they're good to put onto the plastic in the trench as a temporary anchor they you cam pull the sides tight ish and they will roll still trapping the plastic, then back fill on top of them to help secure the lot.
