I can’t help but grin at your hard work Vince!
Especially now the project is nearly complete
I’d be itching to get stuck in there and start growing!

So the front of Fort Knox is complete! Today I added a doorstep inside the tunnel which butts right up against the door, so there is no gap at all. The doorstep is wrapped in the same wire as the preimeter fence and it is comes out under the door and tucks under the slabs that I have now relaid all the way along the front of the tunnel.

Will repeat all of this at the rear of the tunnel. Off to the snooker world championship now for a few days, back in time for the new tunnel soil to be delivered Thursday.

Impressive project, Vince. Looks like that should be a very productive tunnel. How long before you can move your pepper and tom plants in there?

          Enjoy the snooker.

Thanks, will start planting it out as soon as the soil is in, so hopefully Thursday, but will see how I get on. Otherwise I will nip down and do bits and pieces lunchtimes during work.

Well all good apart form the King's Lyn bit then.

2 tons of topsoil and 2 tons of compost arriving tomorrow. A lot of digging required to remove the old tired soil from the polytunnel borders and transportation in of the new mix

                        Soil has arrived.

Started digging out the old soil from the tunnel and have used it to earth up my spuds. Have done a quarter of the tunnel and it took me 3 hours! Click image for larger version

                          3 Giulietta (plum)
                          2 Crimson Blush (beefsteak)
                          2 Garnet (cherry)
2 crimson cocktail (normal sized tomatoes)

Actually starting to worry I didn't buy enough soil/compost! Thought I'd have loads over from 2,000 litres

Any updates on your greenhouse Vince?

Have you managed to deter the rats?

So far so good Nicos There don't seem to be many about this year, the only one I've seen was a dead one outside my shed door a couple of months back, had probably been at my bait station! Next door plotholder has a Mirabelle and a plum tree both of which have not really been picked so the ground underneath them is covered in fruit, maybe the rats are attracted there instead.
