Building our Greenhouse this weekend.

Well, we got a little excited about buying a greenhouse and got carried away and purchased a 10x8 one.

We are now at the stage where we can start putting it all together, so hopefully this weekend we are going to attempt it. Weather permitting.

I will take some pictures of us putting it up, and post them on here.

Can anyone recommend what type of heater would be best for this size of greenhouse please? We don't want a hot greenhouse, probably something to keep the frost off.

Best of luck with it I'm still in the process of getting mine up and running (see previous threads of mine) and I haven't even considered if I want it heated or not yet . As long as it's up, safe, glazed and reasonably waterproof then I'll be happy (for now) Next year could bring a whole new set of decisions though!

Welcome to the joys of greenhouse owning, I got my first (proper) one last year and would not be without one. I would recommend the double burner from Norfolk Greenhouses for your size but if you only want to keep the frost off in one area then their single burner would be better. Of course if you have power in it (I don't) then a 2W electric one with a thermostat is the best option.

However the best thing to do, even if you heat ,is to line the greenhouse with bubblewrap for insulation.

As has been mentioned numerous times before........It doesn't matter how big it seems now, it will never be big enough!
I'm progressing with my cheapo greenhouse this weekend, stripping the glass from wooden window frames and cutting it to size to fit my ongoing FREE project!
I'm also, at long last, going to build a cold frame from breeze blocks I've had lying around for umpteen years. (size is to suit a velux window I scrounged!)

Good luck and make sure you wear leather gloves for the glasing!

I've got a 2kw in my 12x8 and it just about copes in bad weather. It was a cheapo one ( �50ish) but I keep promising myself a Parwin as these really good albeit a lot more expensive to buy, but a friend of mine has one that is somewhere around 30 years old and it's only let him down once and they sent him a replacement element out and it was up and running in a day or so. I suspect mine will just be junked when it packs up.

Ther is one called the Bio Arizona I think and you mount the heater high up and it recycles the warmer air from the top of the greenhouse and blows it through a plastic duct on ground level but it's about �200 so whilst it claims to be cheap to run it's expensive to buy.

But you should insulate it anyway as that will keep it a lot warmer even if you don't heat it.
