      Aw thank you lottie dolly.

Well I'm back and not in jail for any road traffic charge. I had several very long and very, very muddy lengths of metal sticking out my passenger front window with a red fleece tied to it at the front and it stuck out the back about a metre, the back had an old fluorescent jacket cable tied around it. I was mortified driving home but I acted like this was a normal occurence and just smiled and waved if anyone stared at me. I'm soooo glad to be home now though.

Now I am home and the worry over actually getting this thing is over, I really am getting excited. I ordered some treated timber (clearance price yay) to use as an extra base and it's being delivered tomorrow. I'm feeling really positive about doing things in the garden again, first time in a long time.

Thanks again for all your tips etc, I really appreciate the help.

        Well done GG,
Do you know the make of the GH as a lot of them have assembly instructions online.
They're all much the same to assemble anyway!

        Have fun

Thanks VC, just ordered. Going by those I think it might be a Vitavia but I'll see when the seal samples arrive.

Just Googled Vitavia greenhouses and the square gutters and the top roof cap thing on the ones I saw (dont know what it's called) look very similar so it might be that.

Read the instructions very carefully as often there are bolts which need slotting in for later before a strut is bolted in. Just in case get some crop headed bolts. These are useful for attaching string to so you'll need a load of nuts too.
                    Best of luck.
I did have an assistant as you can see from the photo

Aw bless Danny, I would love to live in an area with those kind of assistants. Your greenhouse is looking great. Unfinished but great.

Well peeps I'm stuck! The sample pack of seals has arrived and none of them are the same. The Vitavia seal is much smaller and a different shape. I can't find the same thing/size. I'll try to draw the profile and upload it in case anyone knows what it might be............

Okay, it's clearly not to scale. The seals I see that are similar sizes all are rounded at the top and are around 7mm high. Wondering if it would matter, can I just kinda squash it in?

Ask the "seals" lady if she can suggest what it could be? Maybe send her a piece of your seal?

You want one that can be held in the slot and be thick enough that the glass doesn't touch the metal. It doesn't need to be a tight fit in the slot as the glass clips will squeeze the seal between the glass and the frame. The rounded ones should be OK as long as they are not too thick for you to get the clips in. You could put a likely sample in and but a bit of one of your broken panes on top and weigh up that the glass clips can go in and also the seal is squashed a bit at least.

And when it comes to putting it back together, make sure the timber base is the right size for the base, totally square and level.

Put the frame together and then blast it with a pressure washer, then lift it onto the base and screw the base down. Check the uprights are vertical and then start fitting the glass. Very good idea to buy new clips. I ended up using the old clips and then having to unclip the rusty ones and replacing with new when i had got around to buying the new ones! Would have been better to just have the new ones to hand. I found Amazon to be the cheapest for my clips. Local garden centre was extortionately expensive!

Oh, and don't plant too much stuff in there... you (well, me anyway) can get quite carried away. We had soooo many tomatoes, cucumbers and the odd pepper plant in ours it was like a jungle. It was amazing but a bit overgrown!!! Have fun!
