    Hi Dobby,

Welcome to the vine. Sorry I do not have any spare as I have only just started myself. Try Mrs Nesbit she had loads a week back, it is in seed swap further down.

Cheap greenhouse? Depends what you need. I have one of those very cheap plastic ones (25?), the plastic has lasted about16 months, now ripped to shreds. (I could have made it last better if I'd been more careful tying it securely at the very outset and protecting corners with bags of compost etc). A new cover will cost me about 15 max and I reckon it's a good investment at that price. Mine is walk in with one shelf down the side. I've now also bought an even cheaper 4 shelf one for about 10-15 (just four shelves in a cover). This time of year is probably when you will get bargains.

They are cheap and nasty products but at the price I think they do a fair job. Certainly I can't afford 150 for a cheap permanent one.

The Local Paper/post office/corner shop or e-bay are all good sources for greenhouses. The one thing I will say is get one bigger then you think you need cos it will be too small in no time!!

The other alternative is to make a greenhouse or Polytunnel. Pigletwilie made his own tunnel for a fraction of the cost of a new one & there are some plans for a greenhouse on our lottie website (see link below)

Where did you get your plastic greenhouse from? I've got one of those tiddly 3 shelf ones but would love a little walk in.

What sort of pumpkin seeds are they? Is there anything in particular you would like. I have loads of saved Giant Winter Spinach and Avonresister parsnip also lettuce and beans later in the year.
            Bright Blessings

Have to agree with Mr Dobby that these seeds are great, we got a fair few decent sized and very tasty Pumpkins from them last year, and still have lots left, so if anyone wants any, please let us know! All you need to do is send us an SAE and we will return some immediately!
                Blessings

Hi Dobby ( mrs dobby for that matter)

If you do have a go with parsnips just be careful with the sap from the tops, it's like Giant hogweed (same family) & it contains a substance that will bring you out in blisters if it gets on your skin & then gets exposed to light.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like another good reason for investing in a decent pair of gardening gloves! Mr Dobby has some, but generally I dont tend to use them, so perhaps will have to start!

Hi nick, that is a fact i didnt know, am growing veggies for first year and came out in a really bad rash on the inside of my forearm, very sore and ugly, the chemist thought it might be from a courgette plant but from the sounds of it might have beent the parsnips.

Hubby hoping would put me off growing courgettes again as he is getting a little fed up of them in every meal!

Will take more care around the parsnips too now, this gardening is a risky business!!
