The Russian variety hasn't much taste and what it does have is quite bitter. Shame, because it's a doddle to grow from seed.

I've been lucky with the french tarragon I think. Admittedly it's baking hot in summer where it is in the garden. But I've just covered the last bits of it with mulch over winter and it not only sprung back in spring, it went psycho! I've 7 huge bunches hung behind the fireplace drying atm.
I keep walking into the loungeroom and thinking 'what's cooking' and then realise it's the tarragon drying.
Parsley I have in a pot because the garden ones didn't survive the winter. I'm going to try more in the garden this summer tho and see if I can find some that can cope.
Basil just carks it at the first sign of cold I find. Haven't tried for coriander yet.Ali
