I have a selection of mint in pots (pineapple, chocolate, ginger, apple, etc) that have done well for the last 3 years but this year none of them are showing any signs of growth/springing into life. Any ideas as to what's gone wrong?
Something terminal? Mine are everywhere and growing like mad.
?Small pots - did they get frozen or dried out during the weird weather we've been having?
Mine in pots looked liked it was completely dead, I was ready to sow some new plants, I think it was last week green started showing from nowhere, and now it is growing like mad, it's a few inches tall now in a week, maybe yours will pop up soon as your a lot further north
Thanks Urban and VC, they are in a shady corner. I'll take a good look at them tomorrow and check for any new growth - perhaps I can pop them into a sunnier spot.
they might haqve dried out over winter if they've been shaded. You might have to grow some more. Well done for keeping the pineapple one alive this long though.
How come you didn't use your chilli/garlic mixture?
Just too busy with everything else, and the plant died before I got round to making the potion. Knowing how tough mint is, I thought it would be fine left outside for a bit

The cuttings of chocolate and variegated mint that I took a week ago are all rooting in water now, so anyone who has lost their mints, take some cuttings from someone who hasn't!
My choc/black and moroccan mint growing well now in the sun areas and handling a regular crop for tea brewing. The mint in shade is suffering from rust and aphid attack already and is spindly so I am cutting it back. I think the soil is too rich. Bed was made from a half soil, half compost mix. P.
Havent found a use for other mints yet. Need to audit what I have. I was given one called Sweet Hilary which I cant find listed anywhere.
