P.S. I've accidentally done it with thyme (rooting it, that is).

I bought a bag of thyme stems, and put them in a cup of water to keep them fresh. They are rooting.

One of my schools sowed coriander 3 weeks ago and I rolled my eyes as it was far too early. Got there today and yes, they had germinated.

So folks, get your first sowing in now! Sow in modules and you can transplant them easily, they don't like being disturbed so a module can just be dropped into position once a root ball has formed.

Agree with grapes who have rooted mint & basil tips from packets.
Lidl`s have enormous chive plants which can be split into at least 5 plants which will come back year after year if planted in the garden.
