Herbs we can start sowing

What herbs can we start sowing please? I'm thinking of sowing sweet basil, coriander, spring onions and parsley, obviously to be used as kitchen window sill potted herbs.

i'm planning to do basil & parsley this week the pack say's to grow indoors you can sow any time.

As of now I have Chives, Basil, Sage, Oregano, Parsley and Thyme all sown in pots by the window.

im gowing to sow allsorts this weekend, but tomorrow I will take some rosemary cutting from my front garden to clone them in my aero propagator

I started some Basil off the other week but after sprouting nicely it now seems to have just keeled over on me.

I have sown some basils, spring onions,garlic chives, mitsuba, chinese celery and coriander this afternoon. They were all sown in 2" pots.

Don't forget chervil, they don't mind a bit of shade either.

Are you putting all these in the heated propagator? Haven't got round to sowing any of my herbs yet but then they aren't as impt as veggies for eating maybe except for Chinese celery that looks good enough as stir fry veg and I do love coriander.

We don't use the heated prop for most herbs, just warm and light, there might some 'exotics' need warmer conditions?

Thanks for the confirmation, no more space in the heated propagator anyway. BTW my 2nd batch of tomatoes, this time in shallow dish have come thru after 5 days of sowing but only Ananas Noire hasn't come thru but not too worried.

Sorry didn't see this. They are just by the window sill (no popagator at all).
Some of them has germinated ( basil and the coriander but only 2 or 3 tiny emerging).

I'm not surprised the result is dismal. Unless I use the heated propagator, the germination is very poor/slow so I'm not too keen on sowing just yet until I can release space from HP. I also worry if germination takes too long, the seeds could be messed about unnecessarily so that they won't ever pull through.

Take my cauli for example, out of 20 odd seeds only abour 3-4 have sprouted so if the others are taking so long, I feel like they're dead anyway. I have to use the HP as a production factory on a conveyor belt. Having said, the broccoli germinated almost 100% on window sill. So the practice run has been useful.

I am with SBP. Sometimes seeds don't germinate easily because they have bad germination rate which is from their gene (such as golden beet), because of old seeds or because of enzym that prevent them from germinating easily (such as the spinach seeds). Give them time and relax, just don't sow all of them in one goal .
Having to said all that, my big stem mustard is no longer good too, they don't germinate after 10 days yet all the other seeds has grown happily.

Hey veg, just teasing you...you know you always sound like you're in a hurry. I imagine you standing over your propagator, tapping your foot, willing the seeds to grow!
