With reading the answers given I think I will try making grow jars from small plastic drink bottles,as hopefully we will need a good number, and it encourages the children to reuse or recycle

If you can get some biggish lumps of charcoal from a bonfire or similar, adding a few to the water helps stop it from smelling, and so you don't need to change it so often.
