Yep that would make sense. I sowed 20 centaurea dealbata in Autumn last year, 6 germinated and I have gradually lost all of them this spring for various reasons. Then nature just decides to drop a different cornflower in on me just to take the Mick.

A confused Foxglove, growing horizontally!

Asphodel or Jacobs staff as it is known here. Ok until the seed pods start to form and they look like martians eyeballs, that’s when I chop off the flowers. The foliage is rather nice though, grey green and grassy.
