Flower of the Day for a year - a Challenge!

Today�s flower is Celosia Dragon�s Breath.
I had high hopes for this one - and yes it�s very striking.
Most of these plants failed and keeled over and the couple that survived are very late to flower.
It has been hard work and a long wait to get this one.
Next year might give it one more try, but it�s no better than an Amaranthus in my opinion.

Carnations - a bit woody and straggly now so I will take some cuttings very soon and pinch them out several times as they grow in order to get some fresh bushy plants next year. These particular carnations are rather strangely scented - reminds me of cinnamon.

We are into the second week of September and it has struck me how colourful gardens are still looking and trees are not even starting to take on their autumnal colours. I do think our seasons are changing. As a child this time of year gardens and trees would have had a very different look. I have submitted a few photos taken this morning of my back garden and one could be fooled into thinking it was July/August.

cheops your the kind of person that would get a man into bother..you keep a tidy garden and a lovely garden it is, but as I was driving back home today my OH mentioned that it is looking and feeling like Autumn as the trees are turning and it is getting colder, today 13c so it depends on what part of the country you stay in whither summer is extending or not

Sidalcea - this variety is called �Purpetta�. Looking tired now but can be forgiven as it has been flowering profusely for ages. Being quite tall this plant offers a great backdrop to your flower bed. Always a great buzz as bees come and go. There is a variety called �Party girl� which is on my �must get� list.

Here to make up for missing yesterday is a fancy Californian Poppy. The seed came from L*dl and it is self seeding all over the place. For today a white Japanese anemone, not quite as invasive as the pink one , I think.

My Flower is a Heuchera.
Grown for its foliage rather than its tiny flowers (sorry, Heuchera, no offence intended).

Today my flower of the day is what I know as a Tom Thumb, or to give it its proper name a nasturtium, that's a name you have to be careful with if you have auto correct

A and quite glad I went for a photo as there is some thing behind it that I didn't know was there
