plant id please

I thought it was a plantain but it has suddenly shot up in the last week and looks like it is due to flower. There is a good chance it has come from a wildflower mix, just not this years. Any ideas?

I'm guessing Pink (or another colour) campion.

Yes, looks like campion - have some in my garden that self seeds

TY. I hope it is pink. I have a white one round here but the plant is very different. Quite excited now. A bit embarrassed I almost pulled it. Never mind.

He he. I am not in Wales though it will take several attempts over several years to get them to behave properly let alone become invasive self seedy critters.

Psst, do you know what "smut" is? It causes s3x change in campions!
Some of mine are on the change.

Amazingly, I actually knew about campion smut!! I went on a fungi identification course and, as we walked through a wooded area, the leader asks us whether we could see any fungi. We're all looking at tree stumps etc but nobody spotted the dark centres of the smutty campions.
Its a good line to use with strangers " Do you want to see a bit of smut?" or similar

Sea campion's similar and you might find them on the cliffs down west.

We do - very similar, just normally shorter.
