I didn't think my seed grown dahlias would be back this year,I didn't really mulch them, chopped up some marigolds over them,I don't know why one plant looks huge & there's a couple of gaps like a couple of plants didn't make it through the winter, gaps for edibles maybe tomato, this is them today the blue around them is ceanothus petals-

I'm thinking of growing some Dahlias. Do you need to bring them indoors for the winter?

              Regards..........Rob

No you don't have to move them at all, just cut them down. I left about an inch of stem in the ground then mulch over it,you can chop & drop old plants like runner beans & peas to use as a mulch if you want. My runner bean plant (celebration variety) has come back for its third year like perennials do,in the autumn I cover the roots with the chopped up vines & leaves, but you can use any mulch

I personally found the change around to the VSP too cumbersome Scarlet.

The flower Circle 2017/seed swap isn't the VSP! have a look at this:http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...7-a_92089.html

Last years circle had some interesting flower seeds to grow on.
