Cut flower bed

Going to start a cut flower bed on the allotment next year, going to be mainly growing annuals, i was just going to dig in a load of mp compost, do I need to do anything else?

I don't do anything special for my annuals, just get the weeds out. Maybe work in a bit of general purpose feed like growmore or an organic alternative, if I've got some handy.
