  • Hostas - garlic deterrent to slugs

I watched GW a few years ago and a man who grew Hostas never had them touched by slugs because he said he sprayed them with garlic water when they were small and it stopped them through the season. It also worked for me but late summer they always got the better of them despite re-spraying. Well this year I did the same but it hasn't stopped them at all.

For the life of me I can't think why

I'm sure I read somewhere that Prince Charles grows lots of hostas but never gets slug damage because they have a coarse wood bark mulch around and under them. Beetles love to live in the coarse mulch, and beetles love eating slugs, is how it goes I think.
    Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
    Endless wonder.
