  • Pruning rose bush, is it too late?

I have a rose in my front garden which I was too lazy to prune before the winter. Is it too late to do this now? It's not wildy out of control, but could probably do with a good tidy up.

Do it now. Use sharp secateurs and cut back to just above an outward facing bud.

And give it a good feed to say sorry!

OK, regular mpc around the base or should I use something more specific?

It needs Fertiliser - although a mulch with MPC / rotted manure etc. would cheer it up too, but it needs fertiliser to recover from the pruning, grow strongly, and put on a smashing display

I always use Top Rose, but probably anything balanced ("Growmore") would do.

              I've not done mine either...

It was still flowering over Christmas, into the New Year and its still thinking about it now!
