    Well I've decided to have a weeping silver birch (it was my first choice and my favourite) on one side and an amelanchier on the other. I have a 4ft fence at the front which looks a bit bare so I'm going to have 4 camellias in huge pots in front of it. Thanks again for all your suggestions and I'll add some pics when I finally get it done :-)

      I would endorse the recommendation for the amalanchier. Think you can eat the berries too , but not sure if it needs to be a particular variety. Pretty spring White flowers that arent so blowsy as the cherries and autumn colour in stunning red foliage
