wild flower mix

I bought a �2 wild flower mix from Morrisons; anyone have any experience of these mixes?
I have ordered some more from ebay, but still waiting. What is the best way to go about brightening up local wild places?

I don't have experience so far, have sowed a wild mix around a tree in our lawn a week ago for the first time though. I simply cut the grass shorter in the shape I wanted the flowers around the three than the rest of the lawn, and in this path sown the seeds rather sparingly and watered. Then I also planted bulbs for different splashes of seasonal colour to precede the flowers in spring/ give extra interested end of the summer. Fingers crossed it works!

What is the best way to go about brightening up local wild places?

It's illegal. So of course we couldn't encourage you to do it. You might want to have a look at guerilla gardening for some inspiring ideas though


Just throwing those mixes around doesn't work. Wild flowers usually need very poor soil and they can't compete with grasses.
At school, we sow the seed into modules, grow the seedlings on, and then transplant them

Just as well then I have quite a lot of seeds left, so I can sow these in modules

I am sowing some seeds in trays too, I hope to plant them on a rainy day when there are not many people around.
