I knew an old hippy in Brighton who used to move to India for the winter, and live on a beach. It did her arthritis much more good than anything the NHS could offer.

Midsummer is a great time, the North Sea finally starts to warm up and so does our weather. The days get shorter, but warmer.

Ah how I missed the dark evenings, at 4pm - throwing it down and freezing.

      Someone pass the noose.

            Garvey, get a life.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

On the negative.....ways to keep warm this winter. We used 500 litres of oil every month last winter think there must be something wrong with the oil tank....BUT i am gonna make sure i have the house ready for this year.
We just moved here a year ago and had no idea how cold the house would be in winter. We are out in the country in a detached bungalow.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

insulation, insulation, insulation......we live in a detached bungalow in the middle of nowhere too and thankfully it's pretty well insulated with a large solum underneath it too which keeps the air flow pretty good. The first year we were in we had electric heating which was terrible - and expensive. We got oil last year and the difference was amazing! Make sure you have the correct size radiators for the size of rooms you'ove got. You can find out what size and number you should have on various sites online. Keep cosy, anything else is just miserable!

Yep, as of Monday, all downhill to Christmas.

I will admit to being a bit of a doom and gloom merchant at this time of year in the past.

We won't be halfway though the year until midnight on 3rd July (I think), maybe midday.

I love Spring and Summer. I'm not the biggest fan of Autumn, but it can be quite bearable. Season of mists and mellow fruitfullness.

Winter I do not like. Nothing to do in the garden, and just nasty.

Cheer up Binley. We have passed the Summer solstice, so the nights are drawing in.

We are heading towards Autumn. Not my favourite season, but the most bountiful. Mists and mellow fruitfullness., when all your labours come to fruition.
