        just one years growth is unlikely to pull down fencing. It's only if you leave it pile itself up and never cut it back that it'll defnitely do that. Next doors [now that I've finally found out it is actually russian vine] has collapsed his pergola completely [and it was a really sturdy one, built to withstand hurricanes etc].
        Also, watch what you do with the clippings, they will easily root, he made a pile of clippings that came off the conservstory bit [his friend made him cut it back ] and it rooted into a bush in the middle fo the lawn with no help at all.
