Patio cleaner...

Hi, our patio is 'orrible Its concrete mix with stones in and its all grey and filthy. We can't afford to take it up and I certainly don't want the mess. We have decided to clean it but I've never done it before. Should we buy a high pressure hose thing, and what cleaning agent should we use? I want to do the patio wall by hand with a scrubbing brush - as its adjacent to my flower bed I obviously want to use something 'friendly'.. but I want it to work. Has anyone got any experience to share

my patio is paving flags inset with bricks, and i use a karchi pressure washer (sp?)without any cleaning agent loads of times, its a bit of a messy job but i find it quite theraputic and do it over a couple of days

i think bleach works best sprinkle it round, add a bit of water, brush it over the surface then leave for a couple of hours then rinse whilst brushing with a good stiff brush... but ***** fluid is good too and is ok near your flowers and smells fab

You can use just water, but if you want a disinfectant, use Citrox. It is totally safe to use around plants.

Thanks all. We bought one today, only �30. I though 'great, I'll get home and make a start'... then I read the instructions and found that you need a water supply via a hose and we haven't got one. (I keep fit by watering my plants with a can, it takes 13 of them in the height of summer.) So we'll have to wait now. At least we've got an outside tap and it does seem to have some thread on it. I didn't want a hose pipe, great big ugly thing taking up lots of space
