Sweet Peas Gone Mad

I seeded my sweet peas 10 days ago. They're growing in cardboard tubes on the window sill in the house. After 10 days they have germinated and are 5 inches tall!! .Should I be worried? At this rate I will need a bigger house to accomodate. Should I be doing something to slow them down???

I didn't soak mine. The packet didn't say to.. is this normal practice?

I soak mine for 12hrs then sow & when second set of leaves appear - pinch out

When they get to about 6" high I nip the tops out. They bush and then you get more shoots. (Not with eating peas though)

I'm growing sweet peas for the first time this year. Started them off inside but they've now germinated so they are in the greenhouse.

I'm interested to see that you should pinch them out to get them to bush out, so what is the general advice. Pinch them out once the first proper leaves appear, or let a few more develope.?

And when they do bush out, do you subsequently pinch out those shoots? `any advice appreciated as flowering stuff is a bit alien to me!

I just pinch once at about 6". Dunno what others do.

yes

most seeds need some warmth to germinate first but then cooler conditions to carry on growing without becoming to leggy and weak.

What can I do with mine as I don't have a greenhouse or coldframe? Have been pinching them out regularly!

Just don't have them anywhere too warm ... what about an unheated room?
Or make a coldframe ... even an upturned plastic storage box will do.
