Love snowdrops. I got given two small pots of growing bulbs for Christmas. Galanthus elwessi Beluga and Snow Fox. They seem quite pot bound, if I plant them out where do you think, we've a bit of a hedge and how deep?

Snowdrops like damp, shady places. The bulbs need to be 4 - 6 inches deep, so they don't dry out in summer, plus as the bulbs multiply they tend to rise towards the surface.

    Endless wonder.

I did have to hint. Normally at Christmas I say 'keep the receipt'! Lol, I'm difficult to buy for.
Hope you've had a lovely holidays and are welcoming in the New Year. x

We have quite a lot of Snow Drops in the garden now, proper lifts the garden out of it's slumbers.

Have thought about these today. They were all planted out into the garden borders, plus we rescued a clump from the local churchyard. I don't see any signs of any of them yet. But we have got yellow primulas flowering already.

Enjoy the flowers then plant them out.

Lots of mine showing white buds.

If you don't have many buy a load in the green and plant them. Over the years you will fill your garden with them. It's just the splitting and replanting tht can get to be a chore. They self seed too.

Buy them from proper bulb merchants who specialise in bulbs in the green. Not the ones that ply in the newspapers at silly prices.

Snowflakes are worth a punt too. They bulk up well.

I can see the leaf tips of mine emerging from the ground, they won't be flowering for ages yet.
