    Crotons are great choice and love light. I love them although have killed many from overwatering over the years. Josephs coat is especially attractive and a bit tougher than other types from what i've seen. Although they are tropical plants so do best in warmer spaces.

      You can grow almost anything there for a short time in the warmer months if its in a pot which can be moved to let the plant recharge its batteries somewhere sunnier.

      If you are looking for something more permanent, then I'd say the suggestion of ferns was an interesting one and probably what I would opt for.
