  • Pinks failing to flower again.

Well, every year I do my best to get my pinks to flower (good quiality compost, well watered and fed etc) and they still fail to open, going scabby looking.

You need a good well drained compost. I use 50:50 John Innes No2 and multipurpose with a bit extra grit. And as for feeds, you want a high Potash feed to get good blooms. If you give them too much Nitrogen then you will get lush growth and no flower. If you're growing them in the garden rather than pots then equal parts Multipurpose and Grit and fork it well in to the soil to give the sharp drainage they need.

THe 'scabby' look is probably because the growth is too lush and has got scorched
