  • When To lift Bulbs In Pots?

This Spring I planted lots of Narcissus, Tulips and Muscari in pots. Am I ok to lift them all now?
I did the lasagne thing and planted each pot with a mix of the above. Big mistake! Each bulb type outgrew and smothered the others and now I have now idea what is what!
    Rookie error!

Hi Peanut, I also grow spring bulbs in pots.
I dont lift them, just put the pots on their side under my deck until the autumn.
When I am using them again I take off the top few inches of soil and top it up with fresh compost.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

As you’re not happy with the display you can move them now & spread them in an area & cover them over with soil after. I’d gather the smallest muscari bulbs & maybe have those in a pot, they might get lost in the soil?

That sounds like a good idea which I can use in the future. Thank you Bramble

Thanks Jane, I'll lift them now then and sort them and stick to individual pots for each type next Spring. Lasagne planting must work, but with my bulb selections I got it very wrong somehow.
