  • Spiraea ‘Arguta’ bridal wreath

I have a mature bridal wreath plant. I didn’t prune it back after it flowered and wondering if I could get away with a small trim now. It’s at the edge of a path so starting to be a bit awkward to get past.

The good news is, it's a tough plant and will survive quite a lot of hard pruning.

The bad news is, you are cutting off the flowers if you cut it back now.

So I would probably go with cutting out enough branches to get down the path while making a resolution to reshape the plant properly in June once it's finished flowering.

Yes thanks for confirming. Will do as you suggest and do a minimal prune now.
