Growing flowers

Looking to grow some flowers next year for the house and cemetary. Love Carnations but would like some advice on what to grow. Thanks.

Are we talking in containers or in the ground, I had a bed when living in Leicestershire and grew flowers for drying they lasted for ages in a vase and at the cemetery I grew a lot of Statice and Helichrysums
