  • Standard Wisteria

Just taken delivery of a nice Multijuga that's about 5ft 6ins high with three intertwined stems.

In the books they talk about only using a single stem, but it seems to me that with time these stems will fuse together and that all I need do is stop each of them at the desired height.

    Any ideas please.

I'm not sure they fuse, but they will grow around each other until you can barely tell. I'll nip out and check the one in the garden...
(no idea what flavour it is, and it's growing over a pergola).

I wonder if the advice is all about keeping the plant looking to flower - how old is your plant, they can take 15 years to flower if left to their own devices

This is the one I got. Had to have a lie down after ordering! At 72 I thought a more mature plant would be better than those cheapo T&M offerings which are so small and usually of an unspecified variety.

It hasn’t been trained as a standard,I would leave as is for all that growth,it will look like this (picture from google) with multi stems, how are you growing it,it looks lovely through these umbrella stands or anywhere
