Planted out the last of the dahlias in the newly cleared bed - the weeds were mostly nettles and ground elder but there was also a liberal amount of bindweed - a lot of small stones, bits of brick etc + two building sized pieces of stone. The back of the bed still has a healthy crop of nettles in it, but the front by the pond looks OK for now.

I also stuck some borage plants, a new pear tree and an impulse bought multi-blue clematis from ALDI in it . Probably end up stick some left-over leeks from one of my veg beds at the back of it, as I need to clear them for new planting.

My dahlia, Double Delight is in blossom these last few days.
        A beautiful cerise/wine colour..
Bought the tubers in Lidl earlier in the year and have it in a pot until I make some space for them.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Mine which are all planted out are looking OK, the tallest are now about 1' high - first time I've grown dahlias from scratch, so not sure how long it will be before they flower.

Is this their second year? Didn't they flower last year?

It is their second year from seed, yes - surprisingly to me there were about 3 plants which flowered last year - probably the v sunny weather I suppose - anyway the rest will be new to me, so am hoping for something spectacular :-)
