How about in full sun Muddled, and how many birds do they fit?

I've never had any problems in full sun but then, my birds don't spend much time 'indoors' during the day. Certainly it doesn't feel too warm when collect eggs and the girls don't appear to be panting or anything.
As for how many birds, rather more than you'd think! The issue is really decided by the size of the run. If you use only run that comes with it.....two or three birds, maybe four if they're bantams.
But with my eglu and walk in run (bought seperately) or if they had guarenteed free ranging every day then you could have many more.

The reason is the girls snuggle up in the eglu. When I had had two coops ALL ten girls trundled into the eglu to sleep, leaving the second coop empty. So in the end I just got rid of the wooden one. Now, even on a hot night, my remaining four take up only about the space of an A4 piece of paper.

I will say though that if you have more birds you need to make a second (and possibly third) nest box in the run like this.....

I was thinking about the broodies. Just wondering as an allotment doesn't have much cover, how hot they get during the day if you have one that refuses to budge.

Love those nest box ideas! I used to have a wooden "bank" of nest boxes 3x3. They all sat in one! Now I use plastic boxes turned on their sides. But love the lidded option.

My eglu is in my garden Scarlet, not my allotment.
I love to send the kids out first thing to get their egg for breakfast! Couldn't bear for them to be further away than the end of the garden.

But having said that, I really do find that the temp in the eglu stays pretty constant through the seasons. It's quite dark inside and the plastic, each layer, is really much thicker than you would imagine from the pictures.
And I'm a meanie....I oik broodies out into a broodie cage (upturned rabbit cage on bricks) straight away.
