Warning - unpleasant picture - Help please! Is this Coccidiosis?

Hi all,

Need some help please! Saw this in the coop this morning when cleaning the chooks out. Do you think it could be coccidiosis?

If so, how much do vets normally charge for a test to see if it is?

Roughly how old is the chicken?
Were they all o.k this evening at bedtime?

As fish ponds has asked..how old are the chickens? Cocci is usually only seen in very young birds?
How old are yours, how many have you got, how big an area to they have, when we're they last wormed, do they feel as if they have lost weight, are their combs bright, pale, floppy.

If they are young birds...we need to see more photos of bloody poo (sorry ) it's usually quite bright red..you can just buy coxoid from your agricultural store/ or order from the vet. By the time you test, they will have died - it kills them fast. But, I'm not sure that's what I'm seeing...I think that's from an older bird, possibly intestinal lining and nothing to worry about, was it just one poo..not loads?

Thanks all for your replies. One year old birds and seem fine. They have third of an acre most days and occasionally are penned in, in their 2.4m x 4.8m run.

Don't seem to be lots of similar poos and they seem bright and energetic enough so hopefully its just gut lining... Its just the first time i've seen any blood in there hence the query.
