In the commercial world poultry are usualy kept for just one season maybe force moulted and kept for a second year, then slaughtered, I know it sounds hard but thats how it is. Once a bird stops laying it ceases to be a profitable enterprise. I remember we used to place them on a whole grain diet with no high protein layers feed to bring on moulting. Its a cruel world.
