  • Issue with egg shells

    Hi folks

I have 2 x 18 mth warrens, 1 x 12 mth Black Rock and 1 x 12 mth Bluebell and they have been laying brilliantly but for the last couple of days, one of the girls has been laying eggs smeared with blood and is possibly finding it difficult to lay as they have been laid outside of the nest box.

I haven't, as yet, been able to find out which one it is but it is obviously of concern to be me - neither egg has been particularly big so my question is

what do I do next? Any thoughts on what is causing this?

    Many thanks

Sometimes you get eggs that are abit bloody, have you had a look at their vents? See if there is anything obvious.

Thanks Jax - yes have checked them and nothing amiss. 4 eggs laid yesterday and no blood so maybe it was just a blip.

I had a blood smeared egg last week. First one ever. Normal eggs from her ever since- I was expecting to see a prolapse but no- nothing! ( she's not the one with the prolapse problem a while ago either)
