Selling extra eggs

Hi all,

My hens are laying well now and I'd like to sell my extra eggs to the neighbours, how much do you thi k I should charge?
The local shop sells free range eggs for �1.60. Per half dozen

i pay about �1.20 for 1/2 dozen banty eggs and 1.50 for normal free range.......not many people mind paying�1.50 for 1/2 dozen fre range...

I sell mine (normal mixed sizes) for �1.20 for half a dozen. I'd say Phil is getting a good price!

I sell mine at 80p a half dozen or �1.50 a dozen from an honesty box at the allotment.

Doesn't sound much, but I don't keep chooks for profit. I have plenty of takers, as I need to get rid of them quickly and the cash helps towards feed costs.

I buy mine from a guy the other side of out allotments. Me, my mate and my sister all get them every 2 weeks (7 doz in total) and he charges us �1.50 per dozen for mixed sizes.

If I sell any of ours, I charge �1/half dozen.. pretty much as everyone else seems to sell their eggs at �1.50. Not to undercut, but I can't be bothered with competition in work. I don't sell all that many, and often give my neighbours eggs. but at �1/dozen, I'll only need to shift 6 or 7 across the course of a month to cover the feed. (can't remember how much the feed is now heh, eitehr 5.99 or 6.99).

Here in 'Stanglia the going rate is �1 for 6 for free range. A near neighbour sells hers at 80p for 6 but hers are in a small run, so not really free ranging. Mine have a quarter of an acre, at least, so I charge �1. I could get more, but have recently lost two of my regulars who have changed jobs, and are, presumably, now buying their eggs elsewhere.

I'm 70p per 1/2 dozen - the cheapest so far. But we have 4 egg sellers down this road alone all at the same price, so can't really charge a lot more!

Mine are �1 per half dozen and I (or rather the chooks) can barely keep up with demand.

Oh, blimey, my nextdoor neighbour happily pays �2 for 6! She set the price! Personally I would sell them for �1.50 for 6 but who am I to say!!

She does get freebies tho, for example she has my freezer contents in her freezer draw at the moment and she looks after the chooks if we go away!

Thanks all, I was thinking �1.20, I'd like to charge �1.50, I'd cover costs alot more quickly that way! I'll be giving a box to each of my 2 immediate neighbours as they've been really helpful; 1 looked after them for a night and the other carried the coop in with my OH. But after that I'll be selling. It was always my intention as that way they cover their own costs!
I'll be selling them as quickly as I have them available, but just out of interest, how long is it safe to keep eggs?

We sell ours for �1 per 1/2 doz (either duck or chicken).... I sell between 7 - 12 boxes a week. Don't do it for the profit, but rather as a bit of extra pocket money.

It's my 'savings' and I usually save up for something nice/a treat with it

You won't have to worry about sell-by dates, PP - they'll go before they're cold! Seriously, though, shop-bought eggs can be nearly three weeks old by the time you get them home, and they keep for weeks...
