  • Hatching eggs advice please?

    Hi Grapes.

A quick question. I have read conflicting evidence on when to stop turning the eggs and when to increase humidity.

Some things say stop turning and increase humidity on day 18 (which is today at 3pm, yes I know silly time!) and some say day 19.

I would rather trust the knowledge of my grape friends than the bit of paper that came with the incubator or something I found in t'internet.

Please help, I dont want it all to go wrong on my first attempt.

    Thank you very much x

My automatic incubator stops turning on day 18. When I hatch under hens I spray the eggs on day 18 to increase humidity (something my Dad taught me to do years ago) and I have noticed the hens usually take a big feed around this time and then don't get off any more until the chicks have hatched.

I think the theory is that the chick needs approx 3 days to get itself into position for breaking out and finish absorbing the yolk sac.
