Hatch help please!

I have had a broody hatch just one then leave a pipping egg! The eggs went in the inncy till they hatched. Glad chickens can't count lol. A touch of vinegar in water sprayed on them all at introduction helped. Stopped mum looking at the new addition like it was an alien good luck

Well, no more hatchers....

None of the other 4 had even pipped by today (day 24), although she was still sitting (but looking after our Lone Hatcher)....

We managed to source 3 other 2/3 day old Barnevelders, who have been swapped over for eggs tonight.

Couldn't quite bring myself to do an egg autopsy, but 2 of the eggs sloshed like liquid when shaken, and the other 2 sounded solid. I'm guessing we got 2 infertile eggs, and 2 partially grown/DIS ones.

They were eBay eggs, so I guess that's a lesson learned.

However, we visited a lovely breeder today to get the other chicks, and I'd be happy to get further chicks or eggs from her, so we're not writing the whole hatching thing off just yet! We are going to try and save up for an incy for next year...
